About the BHNA

The Belfry Hill Neighborhood Association is a non-profit volunteer organization dedicated to maintaining and improving the quality of life in Belfry Hill for its residents.

Belfry Hill is the community just southwest of Lexington Center, between the Parker Field recreation area and Massachusetts Avenue. Most of the neighborhood came into being in the late nineteenth century, and has since enjoyed continual growth. A reproduction of the Old Belfry, which sounded the initial call to arms of the Lexington minutemen in 1775, sits atop Belfry Hill, about 250 feet above sea level. The original belfry was destroyed in 1909.

The BHNA was founded in November, 2001, and currently roughly 30% of households in Belfry Hill are members. Our By-Laws were ratified at our first annual meeting in February 2002. Membership is open to any resident, homeowner, or business owner in Belfry Hill, and the association is governed by a board of directors who are elected by the general membership at annual meetings. The association runs social events and organizes meetings for combined action on local issues.
