Membership in the Belfry Hill Neighborhood Association
Membership is open to any individual, family, or business
in the Belfry Hill area (see this map).
Basically, to reflect the essentially residential nature of
the BHNA, there are two classes of membership:
- Voting Members: Voting members can attend meetings,
vote at meetings, and serve as directors of the association.
Up to two voting members can be registered with the BHNA
for each household, one derived from owning a home, and the
other from living there. If you own several properties,
you only get one ownership vote. Each person is also limited
to a single residency vote.
- Nonvoting Members: Nonvoting members can attend meetings
but can't serve as directors or cast votes. This is really for
business owners and town meeting members who don't live in
Belfry Hill.
Most people live in their own home, and will have two memberships,
either split between two people, or combined for one
person if there is only one eligible resident. Tenants get
just a single vote (from residency) and nonresident landlords
just get the ownership vote.
To join up, just send a cheque for your dues
made out to the "Belfry Hill Neighborhood Association"
and send it to the secretary (listed among the directors).
Please include your name, address, phone number and email (if possible).
This information will not be distributed to anyone outside of the BHNA,
and we will only pester you with occasional notices of annual meetings and the like.
The annual membership dues are $10 per voting member.
So, for most households, it is $20 per year.
People living outside of Belfry Hill, but whose residence is
within 300 feet of the boundary can apply to the directors for membership.
You can see more details in the
by-laws.
