Note:  Changes made with reference to the naming of the line of Samuel Culbertsons.   As of May 28, 2006

 

     It is strongly believed that a possibility exists that the name “Bird” Culbertson is in fact ‘Samuel Bird Culbertson”   This assumption is made due to the fact that in the 1820 Georgia land lottery, there is a record of a petition for "orphans of Bird Culbertson"..  It is believed that this “Bird” is in actually Samuel Bird to distinguish him from his father.  Further hints to this is the fact that Bird Culbertson who married Mary Ann Garrett had a son who is named in a family Bible as Samuel B.  (he died before the age of two).

To distinguish between the line of Samuels, I have placed the Roman Numerals of “I, II, III, IV, and V” to help identify each one.
