At this site you can find out about

the different clubs at GMS:

Academics
Academic Bowl - Four participating middle schools create teams of students who engage in matches which include team problem solving activities, group discussion questions, and Jeopardy-style toss-up questions. The Academic Bowl provides students with the opportunity to appreciate individual differences and understand that through diversity we can build strength and knowledge.
French Club - The French club is open to all students whether they study French or not. It offers interesting activities regularly: dramatic and theatrical productions, sports events, games, celebration of holidays, field trips, treasure hunts, guest speakers, cooking, singing, dancing, and more. The French Club's key event is the La Maison Hauntee (the Haunted House) which is held in the fall.
Homework Club - Rocky Hill High School Honor Society students provide academic assistance to any interested student beginning in October. The club operates on Tuesday and Thursday and runs from 2:30 until the late bus.
MathCounts - MathCounts is a national program for any student who enjoys solving problems and is interested in learning math concepts beyond the classroom. Over 130 schools from around Connecticut participate. this club will begin meeting during the first week of November and is open to 7th and 8th graders. 6th graders may be recommended by their teachers. Weekly meetings prepare the students for a school competition and the Hartford Regional Competition held at the University of Hartford in February.

Science Explorers - Advisor: Scott T. Macdowall. The Science Explorers is a student organization that concentrates its efforts on the extension of the science curriculum. It is the goal of this group to investigate items that time constraints do not allow in the normal framework of the science class. Research activities include: the establishment and maintenance of both marine and fresh water aquariums, the observation of reptiles (chameleons), astronomy, and technology based learning that will include Internet usage to better investigate both marine and space activities.

ORGANIZATION: The organization of this club is designed to give the students the ability to guide and choose their own direction. Officers have been elected and they do preside over the meetings very efficiently. To date, separate committees have been established to: maintain and clean the aquariums (these aquariums house marine animals, freshwater animals, and chameleons), adopt endangered animals to educate others about them, organize fund-raising events, and to investigate future activities for the club.

Spanish Club- Join the Spanish Club as we prepare crafts, cook, eat, play games, "surf the net", sing and dance our way through the Hispanic culture and language. The Spanish Club works collaboratively with the French Club on the Haunted House in the fall and meetings are held every other week from 2:30 until the late bus.
