An overall goal within the 6th grade physical education program is to focus childrenÕs attention on the concept of life-long fitness. Through a variety of activities, your child in Grade Six will continue to explore movement and to reinforce locomotor skills such as running, jumping, hopping, galloping and skipping. Cooperative games encourage total participation, teamwork, trust and group unity. A Physical Fitness test is administered in October and April, with results shared with parents and recommendations for improvement.
In both the seventh and the eighth grade physical education classes the emphasis is placed on developing various athletic skills, acquiring the knowledge of rules and strategies of game play, maintaining fitness and demonstrating good sportsmanship. These goals are accomplished through active participation in a wide variety of activities to meet the needs and interests of all students.
