THE BACK PORCH ROCKERS
CAJUN DANCE BAND

The Back Porch Rockers bring the traditional sounds of Cajun and Creole music alive. The Rockers play lively dance music -- two-steps and waltzes -- and the audience is invited to engage in old-style community dancing rooted to the Southwestern Louisiana traditions now popular in many places around the country and the world.

Formed in 2001, the Rockers currently feature a lineup of two fiddles (Henry Hample and Mark Estabrooks), accordion (Nancy Weston), guitar (Will McCabe), bass (Chris Froehlich-Sanguedolce), and drums (Charlie Shaw), and sing in Cajun French. Hailing from New York and Connecticut, the band members have spent time in Louisiana studying music with Cajun and Creole masters.

At the 2003 Falcon Ridge Folk Festival

The Rockers have been performing at dancehalls and festivals in New England and Upstate New York, including the Falcon Ridge Folk Festival (Hillsdale, N.Y.), the Dance Flurry Festival (Saratoga Springs, N.Y.), and the Springtime Cajun and Zydeco Festival (Stanfordville, N.Y.). In October 2002 we appeared on "Rendez Vous des Cajuns," a weekly radio show broadcast live from the Liberty Theatre in Eunice, La.
