This project was started in 1997 to make the contents of this book available to my siblings. It quickly grew into a project to make the book available to others who might be interested as I began to develop my web sites.

The project grew again when I decided to amend and correct the contents of the book. I am adding information about other descendents of Deacon Stephen Hart who were not included in this book, either because they were not know to the author, or because they lived most or all of their lives after this book was published. If you have information about descendants of people in this book, or information about or pictures of people in the book, please send them to me, so they can be added to this Hart family record.

Because the book is so large - more than 600 pages - I may never be able to put all the book and all the additions up on my website at one time. I plan to put all the book, with annotations, corrections, and additions on a CD-ROM that I will sell here when the work is complete. And, of course, because the original publisher, Austin Hart, is no longer alive, his prices, quoted in the original advertisment, can no longer be honored, for either the book, or the CD-ROM!

Finally, there are a number of ways that you might help this project progress:

• If you have a scanner and a copy of the book, you could help by scanning a few pages in, profreading them, and emailing them to me. Scanning and profreading is more than half of the work I do.
