The Harwood Series
M type fittings are unique designs for use with Harwood High Pressure
Tubing. The rugged gland nuts make stronger joints with higher factors
of safety. The inherent weakness of the old
design, with its stress concentration at the thin section, is contrasted
in the linked illustrations. Series M gland nuts and tubing collar assemblies
are interchangeable with the conventional design.
The Series M tees, crosses, and elbows are made of premium steels, heated
treated to optimum strength. The gland nuts and tubing collars are made
of high strength material to correspond. Note the Harwood Radius Seats
in the fittings. These are designed for minimum area of sealing contact
and consequent low setting-up torque. Other benefits are insensitivity
to minor mis-alignment, freedom from the damage resulting from sharp edges
and imperfectly matching surfaces, and many more re-assemblies than would
be possible with the usual coned seat.
