The Life and Works of Nikola Tesla

The joint meeting of the IEEE, ASME, and SME will again take place at the Holiday Inn, 500 Lincoln St., Worcester on February 22. This year it will be a luncheon meeting beginning with a social hour at 1 p.m., the luncheon at 2 p.m. and the program at 3 p.m.

The program this year will feature a distinguished professor of electrical engineering from Worcester Polytechnic Institute and a fellow of the IEEE, Dr. Alex Emanuel. Professor Emanuel is the author and co-author of more than 140 publications. He has been the recipient of seven IEEE prize paper awards. His present field of interest is Electric Power Quality. He is the founder of the International Conference on Harmonics and Quality of Power.

Dr. Emanuel's presentation will relate to the life and works of Nikola Tesla with a demonstration of the famous Tesla Coil. Come and celebrate with us a great visionary, the man who invented the induction motor. The talk will focus on Tesla the humanist and Tesla the inventor. We will review the milestones in his life, his major technical contributions, the times of triumph and the times of sorrow.

All are welcome to the program. Those wishing to attend the luncheon ($18) must call for reservations by February 14.
