The Other M*U*L*E* Clone called M*U*L*E* 1.5 is still hot under development and we will soon have a page dedicated for that project but I have been told that he is still taking ideas and anyone who would like to help on this project, whether it be sound, music, animation, just drop him a line at Koralt@Yahoo.Com Come on you have nothing to lose...
Next...I have been told of another M*U*L*E* Clone that I have tried and it works nicely, but a few improvements need to be made, you can find it here at imagination go give it a try and email the programmer with your helpful hints to make the game better!

November, 1999
The M*U*L*E* Clone, Terra 2200 has had a name change to "Planeteers!" and a beta is promised by the end of this month find out about it at Planeteers!

October, 1999
We now seem to have two M*U*L*E* clones, M*U*L*E* 1.5, which is nearing completion and a new clone called Terra 2200 since Electronic Arts refused to let them use the name M*U*L*E*. The makers of Terra 2200 now have a web site up and running at Terra 2200 They still need Beta Testers so click on by and check them out.

September, 1999
M*U*L*E* 1.5 is still coming along nicely but he still needs ideas, any idea's no matter how funny sounding might just get used, so send them along to Koralt@Yahoo.Comcome on it will only take you a second to send him your idea and you just might get to see it used...

August, 1999
M*U*L*E* 1.5 is coming along nicely and the author has asked me to ask you again for any input as to what you want to see in the new M*U*L*E*, there will be a **Classic** version and then the new version which sound really good. Also the author would like to know if you have any preferences about what color Irata should be. Come on folks let's give him our support and input your ideas. I received many inquiries about a M*U*L*E* Clone, and here one is being developed, let's give him all the help he needs.
His email address is Koralt@Yahoo.Com

Also I would like to bring to your attention another M*U*L*E* like game called "Iron Ox", it's an online game thru a BBS, you can find out all the info here as well as download the game Dan Shore's Page

Mid-July, 1999
M*U*L*E* 1.5 is coming along and the programmer would like some variations to the M*U*L*E* Theme in MIDI format, so if you have a rocked-out or even a classical or even RAP version of the M*U*L*E* theme in MIDI, please send it to Koralt@Yahoo.Com  He can't guarantee that it will be used but you never know.

July, 1999
I have news of a M*U*L*E* Clone called (maybe) M*U*L*E* 1.5, it seem to be coming along fine and I hope to post some screen shots soon. The game will have a "Classic Mode" that includes all the game play in the original, then there will be a "Super Tournament" mode that has alot of surprizes as well as extra time and other options that can be changed. The author is looking for input and general support for this project. I include this snippit from a recent email asking for some help:"I need someone to draw or render some graphics for the game. I would appreciate it if you could post this fact on your page with my E-Mail address Koralt@Yahoo.Com so that someone who is interested and has free time can contact me to get some more detailed specs."  I have already said that I will give my time to help the cause.
Come on lets rally around Koralt to help him in any way we can!!!   Stay Tuned...

June, 1999
I was perusing thru the newgroups the other day and I came upon a file called M*U*L*E* Beta, so I downloaded it and it was a Beta M*U*L*E* from 1994, it crashes and it's not done, but you can Download it Here and try it yourself. But don't say I didn't warn you...

Mid-April, 1999   Exciting news... I received an email from Bil S. who is programming a M*U*L*E* Clone, here is the email I received..."Last year I proposed a version of MULE running on Windows using DirectX. Since then I had to abandon the project because of time commitements but there has been a recent surge of email in my box about people asking about the game. I've decided to get back into the project and finish it as Planet Pioneer (in homage to Dani and to not infringe on any copyrights that someone may own). I'm hunting around to find a website location and will be posting the first screenshots in the next few weeks. I'm hoping to have a working version ready to test (publically) by the end of the month. This version is true to the original (no multiplayer yet) but if anyone has any enhancements they want to see (besides better graphics, sound, etc.) please let me know and I'll add them to the todo list. If a large enough following is out there, I'll start a mailing list so we can exhange ideas about the project and people can get more info."
Also he has a website up at http://members.8op.com/pioneer where people can sign-up for the mailing list to keep aprised of progress on Planet Pioneer. He will be uploading the pages to the site in the next couple of days describing the project and showing off the graphics.

April, 1999   The only news this month is that I received an email from a person who is making a Java version of M*U*L*E*, stay tuned as more becomes available I will have it here.
Also I will start posting a M*U*L*E* Link of the month, these sites will be new or updated sites that are worth visiting. This month please visit The Shrine for M*U*L*E* as this is our site of the month for April!

July,15 1998   I have several thing to report: First, I received an email while I was away on vacation informing me that Dani Bunten has died. Here is that email:
Dani Berry (Dan Bunten) died of lung cancer last Friday (7/3/98). My parents, who still live in Little Rock, Ark. attended the memorial service, but since I live in Dallas I didn't. I used to work with Dan at Ozark Softscape, and I was a tester for MULE and received an autographed copy of the original Atari version. I later worked on the apple ][ port of seven cities of gold, and other games that Dan went on to write. He was a unique individual and a good friend/mentor, I'll miss him!
It's a sad day for us all...

A memorial website has been created at http://www.mpath.com/dani/ So go on over and check it out...
Next up, another email I received about another MULE32, and here it is:
I *am* working on a PC version of a new M*U*L*E. Not sure of the copyright infringements regarding the name so that's up in the air. My version is a DirectX version running under Windows 95/98 or NT. I'd appreciate if you could post some news about it and for anyone to direct inquiries about it to me at bil.simser@shaw.wave.ca I'll be putting up a site soon with screenshots and a signup form for the beta version. As always, this is a freeware release to the general public. Thanks!

July, 1998   I will be on vacation from June 30 thru July 15, so if you email me and I don't immediately get back to you, you know why but fear not I will return and answer all my email when I get back. The only news I have is a new version of the Atari emulator Atari800WIN Version 1.9 for Windows 95, I tried it out and it works great! You can get it here...Atari800WIN
Also I just received an email about a group of Swedish programmers... I'll just let you read it..."We are a Swedish programming team and just came fresh of playing the classic Mule on the C64. We have noticed an enormous interest of MULE on the Internet, and I am writing you to inform you (and to pass along), that a MULE 2 (Shareware - version is in the making). All tips for what to include WANTED!"

June, 1998   I know it's real early but I had to announce that Danni Bunten Berry recieved The Lifetime Achievement Award at the Computer Game Developer's conference on Thursday. Details to follow...
Well here are a few details as told by GAMECENTER.COM.
"Three special awards ended the evening. One was a first-ever cash prize, the Social Responsibility in Computer Games Award, given by Population Communications International to an edutainment title called My City. For his contribution to teaching children to take pride in their homes, the game's developer won $10,000. Another award was also a first, a Lifetime Achievement Award given to transsexual Dani Bunten Berry, who as Dan Bunten made such multiplaying forerunners as M.U.L.E. and Modem Wars--years before multiplaying became a gaming standard. The biggest award of the evening was the Best of Show Award, chosen by the members of the CGDA from all the nominees in every category. The winner of this award--Gamecenter's own choice for 1997 Game of the Year, by the way--was Age of Empires."
Also I added a link to another M*U*L*E* MOD file thats pretty cool, check it out here Psychonauts M*U*L*E MOD.

May, 1998   I know it's early but I had to report a M*U*L*E* Clone for the PC, this is the actual e-mail I recieved, and it came with a screen shot (click for the bigger picture) As I get the demo or more info I will pass it along to you.
"Well, this is taking me awhile because I'm only able to work a couple hours a night on the project, so expect a couple months before a release and it may never get released if I can't get permission from Ozark Softscape. But, here's a screenshot of MULE/Win32. It's fairly far along. mostly all that's left to do is the auction, interstitials (ie Crystite pirates),the Computer AI (the hard part), and misc elements. It contains all the elements of the original game, the only "improvements" I'll be making are to the graphics(the ones you see are working templates.) and sound. There will be no network play. While I've already implemented most of the routines needed for it, I want this program to be an attention getter for "Planet Pioneer" and not a competitor. So, here's a screenshot. I'll pull together a runable demo for you in a couple of weeks."

April, 1998 I found a new M*U*L*E* Clone that plays really well. It's TZColony and you can download it here... TZColony  It plays in Windows 3x or Win95. There is a few differences in order to keep the lawyers away, but all in all it's a good clone.

March, 1998- Go check out, Adam's The Skool of MULE page, This is a discussion group dedicated to M*U*L*E*, so go here and give your thoughts, ideas, gripes, and other Wampus hunting tips. Also I have almost hit 70 people filling out the M*U*L*E* Questionaire, I'm shooting for 100 before posting the results... So go here and let the world know how you play M*U*L*E*...

February, 1998 - Someone sent me an email alerting me to a sort of 3-D M*U*L*E* - like clone, check it out HERE.or go to the 10six website

January, 1998 -Nothing new so far. I have had over 60 people take the M*U*L*E* Questionaire, when the number of people hits 100, I will publish the results.

December, 1997- I recieved an email from Danielle Bunten, the maker of M*U*L*E* and here are her own words... "Hi. I did an ego search (looking for sites with my name on them) and found your site. I am so pleased and flattered by your attention to MULE. You're right. I have a new design for MULE as an online product (named "Planet Pioneer"). However, I am having trouble finding support to build it. I have thought about trying to start a letter writing campagn that I could use as leverage with a publisher. The unfortunate situation now is that virtually all the folks in authority in the industry got here after MULE was already out of print. The world is so oriented towards "sizzle" these days that showing someone the original product doesn't go very far either. Anyway, on a personal note I'm currently finishing treatment for a fairly advanced case of lung cancer. The prognosis is good and my spirits are very high. I view the future one day at a time. However, if there is one thing I want to do before I die it is to re-do MULE for a modern audience. I'm telling you all this to see if you have any idea how to make this happen. I assume you have email from people asking for this as well. What do you think? I'll take any help. Thanks ... Danielle"

Visit her site Ozark Software and lend your support for M*U*L*E* 2!

November, 1997- Still nothing new to report, but I am adding a M*U*L*E* Tips page where you can send in your M*U*L*E* tips for all to enjoy.

October, 1997- Nothing new to report, if anyone has any M*U*L*E* news or trivia, please email it to my for inclusion in M*U*L*E* News. But please don't forget to take the New M*U*L*E* Questionaire!

September, 1997- New Atari emulator for Windows 95, whch runs M*U*L*E* beautifully, and it supports joysticks. But it needs Direct X 5 for it to run perfectly. Also you can now play the Nintendo version of M*U*L*E* with Nesticle. the NES emulator. See my page for links.

August, 1997- A quote from Computer & Net player magazine, "Famed game designers Danielle Berry (M*U*L*E*, Seven cities of gold) and Brian Moriarty (Loom, Beyond Zork) have joined forces to create a new internet only game called WarSport to be published by ,TimeSink. WarSport should be available for downloading this fall.

July, 1997- The rumor of Dani working on M.U.L.E. 2 for a "yet unnamed publisher" is NOT TRUE. The new multiplayer game is called "WarSport", it's releasingin public beta through the MPlayer network. TimeSink developed it under Dani's direction. It's an awesome revamping of Dani's original "Modem Wars" game. Also Dani has been diagnosed with lung cancer. She's currently recuperating from some fairly major surgery to remove a tumor. All of our prayers and best wishes are with her.

June, 1997- Today, Sunday June 1st, 1997. I, Rick Vendl II, playing a humanoid versus 3 mechtron computer controlled opponents scored an individual score of $45,276, and an overall score of $112,297. I play M.U.L.E. on my Atari XE Game System using the Atari Translator.

May, 1997- This is an excerpt from the magazine "Computer & Net Player" May 1997. ....Rumor has it that renowned game designer Dani Bunten Berry (of M*U*L*E*, Seven cities of gold and Command H.Q. fame) is working on a new multiplayergame for as yet unnamed publisher. We can only hope that it's M*U*L*E* 2......

It looks like it's called "Planet Pioneers" and it's an online game....
