Eric Reed, piano, organ, vocals; Rodney Green, drums; Barak Mori, bass; Steve Nelson, vibes; Erin Bode, vocals; Paula West, vocals.
Versatile and exciting pianist Eric Reed puts together a Christmas selection that has some great swinging Jazz. "Santa Claus Is Coming To Town" also proves that he has a good voice as well. "Winter Wonderland", is crisp and upbeat, "Santa Baby" has a swinging vocal by Paula West and liquid vibes from Steve Nelson; a pause for a short, solemn solo piano piece, "Lo, How A Rose E'er Blooming", keeping the same mood he moves to the organ for "Oh Come, All Ye Faithful", but you won't recognize it. Our second vocalist, Erin Bode, sings "I Wonder As I Wonder", with Eric backing stoically in support. Erin continues with "What Are You Doing New Year's Eve?", with early accompaniment given by Barak Mori on bass before piano and vibes kick in. Paula West comes back with her second number to finish the set with "After The Holidays". The CD does not have an overpoweringly Christmassy feel; Eric says we should consider playing it all year round; I am inclined to agree with him. A good set.
