Two sets by the remarkable solo guitarist Al Di Meola who marries together Jazz, Funk, Blues, Flamenco and Classical guitar techniques, even adding inspiration from the late great tango expert Astor Piazzola.
In the first set in 1986, Di Meola plays unaccompanied guitar and demonstrates an all embracing ability which results in his own unique unclassifiable music.
In the 1993 set Di Meola is given support by Chris Carrington on second guitar and Arto on percussion. These additional musicians add to the excitement of the performance, although it is still Di Meolaís playing that captures the moment.
This recording provides many opportunities for students of the guitar
to study his technique and approach to his original compositions.
