Pat Metheny, guitar; Larry Grenadier, bass; Bill Stewart, drums
Two hours of recorded music on this double CD will please Metheny's many followers. For me, I find his ultra-modern sound a little cold and the length of his solos too protracted. Whilst Larry Grenadier plays a discreet and loyal supportive role to the master, Bill Stewart's contributions are totally in sync with the leader and his solo work is outstanding in both performance and originality. Stewart's drum and cymbal sounds are exemplary - they raise the level of the recording by several notches.
Appreciators of the guitar and/or Pat Metheny should give this CD serious consideration.
