The Yuma Jazz Company was formed about 5 years ago for a concert series in Yuma, Arizona. The band gained a local following and performs regularly in Southwestern Arizona. They have recently released Shades After Dark, a CD on which they play contemporary, straight-ahead and Latin Jazz. The CD features 8 original compositions penned by trumpeter Steven Hennig.
The mood on the CD is one of foreign intrigue, with the band transporting us to rendezvous with strangers in faraway places from Bogota to Cameroon. Hennig's trumpet playing, fine writing and the band's arrangements shine throughout.
