Brian Bromberg, acoustic bass; Freddie Hubbard, trumpet and flugelhorn; Ernie Watts, saxophones; Mike Garson, piano; Mitchell Forman, piano; David Bromberg, drums; Doug Webb, saxophones.
Bass master Brian Bromberg's It's about Time: the Acoustic Project sounds better than ever on this digitally remixed and remastered re-release. Originally released in 1991 on Nova Records, Bromberg's first acoustic Jazz recording features an awesome sextet which includes trumpeter Freddie Hubbard and saxophonist Ernie Watts. Bromberg is a monstrously talented bassist, and the band's playing on this straight-ahead set is tight, riveting, and top-notch.
The CD opens with Freddie Hubbard's nod to John Coltrane entitled "Dear John" and features the Wayne Shorter classic "Yes or No" and some Bromberg compositions.
It's about Time: the Acoustic Project is an outstanding CD and a must-have for bass fans and lovers of straight-ahead Jazz.
