Bobby Ramirez

Ritmo Jazz Latino

Ritmo City Records

Bobby Ramirez, flutes, tenor saxophone, vocals; Various groups

Right! If you dig Latin, you will be satisfied with this one. The musicians all do their stuff to an exemplary degree. Ramirez must be something of a local matador around Miami and the CD contains the work of a wide selection of musicians in various combos. There is enough jazz to give the CD a wider audience, and Ramirez plays some good tenor here and there. His flute playing is fluid and he sure does swing. Rhythm is a foregone conclusion on a recording such as this and the musicians all cook. Song For Maria (Mrs Ramirez, we guess) is both light and swinging and has a pretty melody line, which means that Bobby is probably a lucky guy.

Nice CD, for both Latin and straight Jazz audiences.
