West Coast vocalist Ron Kaplan has released his latest CD entitled Saloon, a collection of standards by Gershwin, Bachrach, David, and Ellington presented in a style reminiscent of "a distant time and placewith a backdrop of clanking glassware, ringing registers, soft whispers, and occasional laughter." Mr. Kaplan, accompanied here by pianist Weber Iago, ably captures the mood of that long-ago saloon.
