Listen to a voice with the experience of singing for her supper. Ms. Anders puts it altogether with such ease, knowing how far to stretch her voice - she just stands there and sings and it's wonderful. You can just hear a smattering of Kay Starr and a tad of Eartha Kitt, but it's still Vernelle's natural sound which lays so easily with the words of the songs. The variety of tunes is just right, a perfect mix with excellent backing from the rhythm section and occasional well-rounded solos from the horns. But the spotlight is on Vernelle and she certainly deserves it.
