aaronbat (15K) Hello. My name is Aaron Daniel Morris Carey, although people I know just call me Aaron Daniel Carey. I would use both names because I think it is a good idea to honor both my parents. There are many famous people who have the name Aaron. There is the baseball player Hank Aaron. Elvis Presley's middle name was Aaron, although his middle name was spelled with one A instead of two, so it was Aron. There was a politician named Aaron Burr, who lived during Jefferson's Presidency and was famous for his duel with Alexander Hamilton, the secretary of the treasury at the time. There was the Aaron, founder of the Jewish faith. Finally, There was Aaron Montgomery Ward, who came up with the postal system.

Bill Gates (17K) Aaron is Hebrew and means 'exalted'. Daniel is also Hebrew and means 'God Judges'. The name Carey, which means 'from the castle' and is possibly a modernized form of O'Ciardha, is an Irish last name that belongs to my dad, James Edward Carey. Morris is British, belongs to my mom, Rachel Morris Carey. The name Morris means 'dark skinned' and is possibly a modernized version of O'Muirgheasa. My dad does not have any living relatives that are Irish, but my mom's dad is of British nationality. My mom's mom is not British, but my mom's step mom is from Scotland. My nicknames are Aarow and AC. I got Aarow from my 1st grade teacher. I don't use it much though. I was called AC at camp, although no one calls me that either.

Great_Britain (28K) I sort of like my name, although I wouldn't mind having a longer and more popular one like Edward, Harry, or Leonard. Also my name sounds like Erin (Female), Eric (Male), Errand (Chore), Baron, Herring (Fish), Parent, or Karen (Female). It also sounds bad when said by someone with a nasally voice.

In addition, I would like to have a first and last name that sounds foreign, like Dmitri Litalina or Igor Jackoslaovacia. The bad thing about weird, foreign names like these are that people would mispronounce them, which is why I am OK with my American name.

Another kind of name I would like is one that sounded snooty and rich. Bill Gates sort of sounds like a rich person's name. Aaron Carey sounds more middle-class. I guess I shouldn't complain, though, because William Shakespeare said 'A rose by any other name would smell just as sweet.' This means that a name isn't the only thing that tells others who you are. So if a Tulip were called a Rose, it would smell beautiful. If my name were Michael, I would be the same person if my name were Aaron.

Even though I have said some things that might make you think I do not like my name, it is actually not a bad name. In this memoir chapter, I discuss my namesakes, the definitions of my names, my preferences in a name, like being longer and more popular, foreign sounding, and high class sounding name.

My name tells people who I am by telling people my preferences in a name.
