including your local watershed. In addition, you need to hit this site to download the
three videos you need to watch about watersheds.
Know Your Watershed
- Groundwater and Surface Water Interaction. - Learn about the
groundwater and aquifers, how surface water "feeds" groundwater, pollution that threatens
ground and surface water and how to protect water. Test your groundwater IQ.
Pennsylvania's Watersheds - You will
need this site to complete "Know Your Watershed."
This is a DEP (Department of Environmental Protection) website that provides maps
and information on Pennsylvania's Watersheds.
EnviroMapper For
Watersheds (Lehigh) - This is a great site with detailed, up to date
information on the health of the Lehigh Watershed. Note that it is the green section and
you will need this site to complete "Check out the qualities of your watershed."

this site. This is an EPA
(Environmental Protection Agency) site that allows you to map many types of
environmental information!
EPA Locate Your Watershed (Pennsylvania) - This link from
the EPA site allows
you to locate information on any watershed in Pennsylvania.
EPA Locate Your Watershed (Lehigh) - This link
from the EPA site allows
you to access information such as rock type, size, counties, toxic and hazardous
wastes as well as Superfund sites.

EPA Superfund - Hit
this site and look for Fact Flashes. There are 11 different
fact flashed dealing with pollution, clean-up efforts, the role of EPA and
environmental laws.
U.S.G.S. - This is the home page for the United States
Geology Survey.
Excellent site for anything dealing with geology and the environment!
USGS Streamflow Data - This link
explains that the USGS provides realtime
streamflow data using the GOES (Geostationary Environmental Satellite).
USGS Daily Streamflow Conditions - This link of USGS shows
a range of
streamflow conditions in the U.S. and allows you to link to a NOAA
(National Oceanographic and Atmospheric Administration) site that will
download a 6-hour real-time video loop of the latest precipitation. COOL!
USGS Delaware River Basin - This
site will lead you to the Lehigh Basin
where you can click on a variety of streams in Lehigh and get some
interesting information on streamflow.
Cygnus Group - This organization deals with efficient ways
to reduce waste
and conserve resources. Links to EPA and NSTA.
OSEI (Operational Significant Event Imagery) -
See the OSEI Image of the Day and
access archived images related to the atmosphere and the environment.
DOI (United States Department of the Interior) - This part
of the U.S. government
oversees the Federal Park System and is responsible for helping to protect our
natural resources. Some bureaus include: USGS, National Wildlife Service, and
the Office of Surface Mining.
DCNR - Department of Conservation and Natural
Resources. If you go camping
at a Pennsylvania State Park you have seen these letters. Find out about
Pennsylvania's parks, natural resources, and environmental issues.
