Cosmic Chasm Game: Cosmic Chasm
Manufacturer: Cinematronics
Year: 1983
Type: vertical color vector

The storyline for Cosmic Chasm is this: your base has been taken over by aliens. You must find your way through the base to the core of the station and destroy the core. Then, you must escape the base before the core detonates!

Cosmic Chasm is believed to be the first arcade game ported from a console game (the game of the same name was ported from Vectrex).

Being that Cosmic Chasm is a color vector Cinematronics game and not many of them were made (around 400 based on serial numbers), it has become a sought after collectors piece. You can read a little bit about the game's history here. The serial number of my game is 96.

There are a lot of unique things about this cabinet. The control panel is completely plexi, and the spinner on it is an entirely encapsulated optical encoder. Also, the game originally used a G08-105 color vector monitor. When I got mine, it was missing the monitor, so I am using a standard G08-003 (as found in the Sega XY games). The cabinet has a monitor shroud similar to Tron. Other than that, it is basically a standard Cinematronics Dragon's Lair style cabinet.

I am working to get the sideart and control panel reproduced. Please contact me if you'd like to participate.
