I love the attract mode for this game:

Dragon's Lair: A fantasy adventure where you control a valiant knight, on a quest to rescue the pricess from the clutches of an evil dragon.

You control the action of a daring adventurer, finding his way through the castle of a dark wizards, who has enchanted it with treacherous monsters and obstacles.

In the mysterious caverns below the castle, your odyssey continues against the awesome forces that oppose your efforts to reach the dragon's lair.

Lead on, adventurer! Your quest awaits!

This particular cabinet was at one time a Space Ace, as I found part of the artwork for it underneath one of the monitor bolt heads. When I found this cabinet, however, it was a lowly Tetris. Most converted Dragon's Lair cabinets have their marquee area chopped flat so that it can be used with a regular flat marquee. However, the marquee area on this cabinet was intact (including marquee plexi and marquee rails), so I decided to attempt a Dragon's Lair restoration. I already had the boardset and disc player that I used to play out of my multigame cabinet, but swapping that game in was a major pain because of the bulky disc player and electrical outlet needed to run the player. I decided it was better to play Dragon's Lair out of a dedicated cabinet.

This project was another major restoration task. I tore the cabinet apart and replaced the bottom, re-vinyled the sides, installed a new 19" TV, patched the control panel, installed a new wiring harness, installed all new artwork, built a replacement power supply, restored the coin door, installed a new scoreboard plexi, and repaired a scoreboard that I got off of eBay.

This particular game has a Limited Edition Dragon's Lair disc. I modified the board to make it so I could switch between the original ROM set and the enhanced ROM set that uses the new scenes on the LE disc.

As usual, it was a lot of work but it turned out great!
