Big news this week; turns out Scottish scientists have figured out how to clone
their girlfriends! Iowan flock to Scottland; next on Geraldo!
This week is another guest review from previous Motorolan Roger Schiavoni, giving us a peek at what vending foods are like in the outside world.
This weeks review:It's not very often that I have a craving for snack food out of the vending machine, but since I was hungry (working on a light lunch), and our machine is reasonably priced, (well, the contents of the machine - I bet the machine itself costs slightly more than the change I have in my pocket!) I decided to take a stab at it.
The machine offered many tasty snacks, most of which are quite commonplace. The one bag that stood out to me was this one. "Chex" in red and "Mix" in black. What a contrast. Perhaps this is a prelude to the contrast found inside the bag.
Opening the bag proved to be a simple enough task. As the bag indicates right on the front, this particular Chex Mix is composed of 4 ingredients: Corn & Wheat Chex (what a combination! Who thought of this?), Pretzel Bows (standard fare), Garlic Bread Sticks (a far cry from the Olive Garden), and Dark Rye Chips (my guess is that someone burned the rye chips, and that's how this "snack" was born.) I'm not one to eat any kind of a snack mix by individual components - I'm afraid I will dislike one of the ingredients. Instead, I prefer to grab a variety bite, being careful not too have too much of any one ingredient.
When I think of "Bold 'N Zesty" (shouldn't there really be another apostrophe after the N, as well?) I think of cajun food, jalepeno nachos, and Tabasco sauce. This "Bold 'N Zesty" does not conjure up any of those images. This snack made me think more of pretzels and cereal. The bag also totes the slogan "Big BOLD Taste!" in a large, red banner across the top of the bag. I don't know about this, but I did find a lot of "Small, HARD TO EAT crumbs!" left on the piece of paper I used as a makeshift plate. Also, the paper was almost greasy enough to make effective tracing paper by the time I finished my snack.
I didn't have a chaser afterwards, and this could be why I am now thirsty. Since this is a very salty product, I would recommend a carbonated, cola-flavored beverage.
