EXTRA-CURRICULAR ACTIVITIES


EXTRA-CURRICULAR ACTIVITIES

A minimum average of 4.0 and not more than one "F", is required for participation in extra curricular activities.

ATHLETICS

Seventh and eighth grade students can try out for the following interscholastic sports provided they are eligible according to the C- requirements

Soccer, Basketball, Baseball, Field Hockey, Softball, and Cheerleading.

CLUBS

Clubs are formed when enough students express an interest in an activity to warrant its organization. Interested teachers sponsor these clubs which meet after school. Clubs which were extremely active during past years are as follows: Craft Club, Chess Club, Drama Club, Archeology Club, Games Club, Hiking Club, Leather Club, Keyboarding Club, Ski Club, Computer Club. In addition, the student staff of the school yearbook operate on a club basis.

INTRAMURALS

Announcements will be made over the P.A. system beginning in late September. All 7th and 8th grade students can participate.

NATIONAL JUNIOR HONOR SOCIETY

Students selected for membership in the National Junior Honor Society must have been maximum honor students in grade seven and have established a record of community service. The election will occur each year in late September. Honor society students have special privileges at JFK as well as being required to continue academic excellence and community service.

STUDENT COUNCIL

There is an active Student Council at Kennedy Middle School. The council is directed by four student-elected officers and faculty advisors. It is also composed of an elected representative from each homeroom. The council meets regularly to discuss items pertaining to student activities. These may include organizing student elections, fund drives, dances, etc. Remember the effectiveness of your Student Council depends on the type of representatives you elect and the amount of support you give them.
