- Mariners Drop season

- John “BigPlay” Andrewes
blasts 2 homeruns!
- New Mariner Blood looks
solid both in the field and at the plate.
- Dave Buckley right back

- Mariners off to a slow
start in 2003, Fall to Rockport 6-4 at Hyland Field
- Brian Lafata and Chris
Lamothe both hit homeruns for Manchester
- Mitchell
had another pathetic appearance on the mound giving up all 6 Townie runs
- Record:

Game 3 Recap – 6/8 – Makeup of 5/26
- Mariners off to a slow
start in 2003, drop makeup to Ipswich 12-3
- Manchester was missing
2 important pieces of their game Sunday night, hitting and pitching!
- The 3 Mariner’s runs
were provided by homeruns by Mitchell and Buckley

Game 4 Recap – Tuesday 6/10
- Mariners break into the
win column, top the Tories 7-1
- Big Bad Bryan Lafata
smacked the 1st Mariner grandslam of the summer!
- Mitchell hit 2 homeruns
in the contest.
- Mitchell pitched 5
innings giving up 1 run in the top of the 1st.
- Lafata pitched the
final 2 innings letting up no runs
- Manchester’s
defense made several outstanding plays

- Mariner’s top Rams 17-2
and improve record to 3-3
- Mitchell pitched 5
giving up 2 runs and Lafata closed the door in the 6th & 7th
- Dave Buckley and Chris
Lamothe each had 3 hits
- Mitchell hit a solo
shot in the bottom of the 1st and hit a grandslam in the 3rd

Game 7 Recap – Wednesday 6/18
- In raining conditions,
Manchester lost to Rowley Rams 7-3
- Mariners left the bases
loaded twice
- Record 3-4
Game 8 Recap- Friday 6/20
- The Townies topped the
Manchester Mariners 9 - 8 in a thriller tonight at Rockport's Evans Field
- Manchester took an
early lead, and Rockport battled back so that the two teams went into the
final frame deadlocked 5 - 5.
- In the top of the
seventh, Manchester pushed across three runners against Rockport starter
Lou McGrath.
- In the home half of the
inning, the Townies tallied four, snatching victory away from the
Mariners.

Hamilton 10-7 under the lights at Hyland
- There were 8 Home Runs
in the contest

Mark Provost, Mike Freni and Judd Funchion each added homeruns
- Joe Mitchell went the
distance for the Mariners, while Beau Hickey did most of the pitching for
the Generals
- Both teams Thursday
night in Hamilton for what looks to be an exciting matchup
- A Manchester WIN
Thursday and a Rowley LOSE tonight would lock the Mariners and Rams in 3rd
place at the all-star break.

Game
10 Recap – Thursday 6/26
- The Mariners traveled to Patton Park and secured 4th
place by beating the Generals 10-3
- Chris Lamothe went all 7 innings for the visiting Mariners
- Lamothe also went 3-5 and put the 1st Mariner run
across the plate with a solo shot in the top of the 1st.
- Joe Mitchell hit 2 homeruns while going 2 for 4 with 5 RBIs.
- Ralph “81” Bates made his 1st appearance of the season.
Ø Bates played a solid right
field for the 1st and 2nd innings.
Ø Bates also had 2 solid at
bats!
Ø Thanks allot Ralph!
- For the Generals, Derek Scialdone was 2 for 3 with a home run.
- Also, Mark Provost pitched
3 innings of relief, allowing only one unearned run.
- The win gives Manchester 10pts and 4th place in the ITL
standings. Rowley and Rockport
share 2nd place with 11pts.
1st place Ipswich has 13pts.
- Record 5-5
- CORRECTION! Ralph Bates was not on the roster. Manchester FORFEITS. Record: 4-6
Game 11 Recap- Monday
6/30
- Manchester tops Ipswich
2-1 in 8 innings.
- Manchester only had 6 hits, Tyler Besse
was 3for4 with and RBI in the 1st.
- Ipswich had 5 hits,
Gardy O’Flynn was 2for3 with an RBI in the 1st.
- A Tom Van Note single
scored Dave Buckley in the top of the 8th to put the Mariners
ahead.
- Mitchell pitched all 8 for the visiting
Mariners, while #20 pitched all 8 for the host Chiefs.
- Record 6-5
Game 12 Recap- Tuesday
7/1
- Ipswich came to
Manchester, and went away with a one-run win in a slugfest, 13 - 12.
- Ipswich went into the
bottom of the seventh leading 13 - 4, only to see the Mariners score 8
times in their half of the inning.
- With two out and the
bases loaded, an eighth inning 90 feet away, O'Flynn got a slow roller to
the first baseman, ran to first, and forced the final out 3-1.
- Record 6-6
Game 13 Recap- Sunday 7/6
- Mariners top Townies
5-4
- Brian Lafata pitched
all 7 innings for the visiting Mariners.
- “What a friggn’ GEM Lafata pitched” - unknown
- Manchester scored in the
top of the 1st off a John Andrewes single
- 2 First Inning errors
in the bottom half gave the Townies a 4-1 edge.
- Manchester tied it up
in the 3rd when Lafata blasted a double into the trees which
scored Corey Hildonen.
- Buckley scored off Van
Note’s FC and Lafata scored off a clutch Bobby Whynott single.
- All square going into
the 7th when Mitchell led off and took a TJ Brown fastball out
of the park to center field.
Game 14 Recap- Tuesday
7/8
- Manchester came from behind in their
last at bat to beat Rockport 9-8
- Rookie Dan Elerio’s
bases loaded ground rule double in the bottom of the 7th gave
the Mariners the win

- Chirs Lamothe tossed a GEM
for the home squad allowing only 1 unearned run in 7 innings

and 4 RBIs!

homeruns of the summer to bring his season total to 13

of the 7th last night.

Game 17 Recap – Wednesday
7/23
- Mariners beat the Rowley Rams Last night 5-0 in
Rowley.
- Chris Lamothe was "ENFUEGO". Tossing a 2 hit shut out.
- Key hits by Lamothe, Lafata,Hildonen, Andrewes, Whynot and
Mitchell contributed to all the Mariners runs.
- Mariner will host the Rams Friday night at Hyland
field.
- Thanks To Justin Brown for having us over after.

Game 18 Recap – Friday
7/25
- The Mariners took over
1st place in the ITL Friday night by beating the Rowley Rams
11-5
- Joe Mitchell and Dan
Elerio combined for the Win-Save combination
- For the Mariners, Bryan
Lafata was 3for4 with a homerun and 4 RBIs
- Joe Mitchell notched
his 16th homerun of the season

Game 19 Recap – Tuesday
7/29
- Hamilton’s
Judd Funchion pitched a complete game and led the game off with a homerun
as the Generals beat the Mariners, 9 to 3 at Hyland Field Tuesday night.
- Hamilton
jumped on starter, Chris LaMothe with 5 straight hits including homers by
Funchion and Mark Provost and singles from Jered Stewart, Derek Scialdone,
and Jeff Barricelli.
- Dan Elario
replaced LaMothe and settled things down. Three runs scored in the
first for Hamilton.
- Leading
4 to 3 heading into the top of the 7th, Hamilton put up 5 big runs giving
Funchion enough insurance to finish off the job, and he did so in the
bottom of the 7th, racking up his 3rd win of the season. He gave up
3 earned runs on 7 hits and 4 walks, while striking out 5.
- Mark
Provost was 3 for 3 with 2 homeruns (6th and 7th of season) for the
Generals. Derek Scialdone was 3 for 4 with a double.
- For
Manchester, Joe Mitchell hit his 17th homerun of the season and Brian
Lafata also contributed a solo homerun.
- Dan
Elario pitched 7 innings of solid relief giving up 6 runs (3 earned).
- The two
teams meet again Tonight in Hamilton.
Due to a Rowley win last night against Ipswich, tonights contest is
a must win for the Generals.
Rowley finished the season with 21pts, temporarily placing them in
4th place. A Hamilton
win tonight would give the Generals 22pts, 4th place and the
final playoff spot.

- Hamilton
beat Manchester 11-10 in the final regular season game of the summer
- The
win gave Hamilton a 1pt edge over Rowley and the final playoff spot
