- Are you planning to release this as
a licenced product?
Not at present, I don't have the time or money. It's
possible that I could attempt to licence it and do a printing some time in
the future, but that's a long way off.
- What tools did you use to make the guide?
I used Microsoft Word 97 for Windows for the text and layout, and CorelDRAW 7 for the graphics. I generated the PDF using Adobe Acrobat Distiller 4.0.
- Why did you release this in full color?
Do you plan to release it a black and white version?
Color has now become the default for printers, especially
at the low end, where color inkjets dominate. Therefore, I felt that it made
sense to go for full color from day one. I've no plans to release a black
and white version.
- What is your source for the station
layout?
The layout from the interior of the station matches up
with the diagram published in the February 1993 issue of Starlog, the
map from the Lurker's Guide
, the original
designer's diagram listed on Michael O'Hare's website
, and the on-screen diagram Kalain calls up
in Ep. 201, "Points of Departure." The exterior details come from the
Babylon 5 Security Manual and the Official Guide
to Babylon 5 CD-ROM.
I realise that there are other, conflicting "official"
interior layouts, like the one in the Security Manual and the
Babylon Project RPG. It's an imperfect world. I've tried to pick
the layout that agrees with the majority of sources.
- How did you come up with floor plans?
Michael O'Hare's web site contains the
floorplans for the first season sets
. The rest I have interpreted from scenes in the show.
- Are you planning to expand this guide
to include _____?
At this point, I'm trying to remain focused on just doing
the setting sourcebook for the station itself. So I won't be doing a guide
to ships, or a background to the B5 universe, or aliens, or anything else
right away. Down the road, maybe...
