Moose Photos

My boyfriend, Scott, and I have spent hundreds of hours in northern New Hampshire and Maine, especially Baxter State Park, moose-watching and taking pictures. That usually involves getting up very early, followed by a lot of sitting and waiting, but it usually pays off in the end. All of these pictures within this website were taken by us. After a while, we started naming all of the moose that we saw, because there had been too many. Here are just a few pictures that we've taken at all different times of the year.

Calf
This calf is just three months old. The picture was taken in northern New Hampshire last summer.

These two moose are showing a lot of interest in each other during mating season.
Melvin and Mom

Melvin the Moose
We called this one Melvin. He's one of the biggest bulls we've ever seen.

This picture was taken in late August when this bull's velvet was hanging from his antlers.

Grandpa Moose
We call this one Grandpa Moose. The picture was taken in the Spring, so he's still shedding his winter coat. He's the oldest moose we've ever seen.

This cow just posed for us in this clearing.
Female Moose

Spring cow
A shedding cow in the Springtime.

We call this guy "Lefty", since his left ear is a little mangled, probably from a scuffle with another bull.
