Press Release for February 13, 2006 concert:

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

The Composers Concordance presents "The Guitar, Improvised and Otherwise: New Works for Electric and Acoustic Guitar," on Monday, February 13, 2006 at The Cutting Room, 19 W. 24th St., NYC, 9:00 PM.

This show will illustrate the many faces of this most versatile of instruments! Gene Pritsker in Two Dances from Satan's Great Ball, and Arthur Kampela in Pallemetria focus on the acoustic guitar, four of them. Jay Kauffman concentrates on the solo acoustic in Polyrhythmy 21.

But, the electric guitar is not to be muffled. Elliott Sharp hurls a respectful earful with his Hammer Anvil Stirrup, a work which includes cello and is certain to stir up the most somnolent audience member. Joseph Pehrson also pairs cello with the electric in his new Runnion With It, and Dan Cooper performs his own Concertino for 7-string electric bass guitar

The guitar ultimately triumphs over its performers and rejects them in favor of robots in Joshua Fried's Emergency Bot (TV Theme) written for the Guitarbot. No humans need apply.

Performers include the composers and others: Dan Barrett, cello, Sean Satin, Jay Kauffman, Greg Baker, Arthur Kampela, Gene Pritsker acoustic and electric guitars, Dan Cooper, electric bass guitar, and of course, the BOTS.

Come celebrate and explore the premier instrument of our time!

Tickets are $10. For further info. www.composersconcordance.org or 212-564-4899.
