50 Seasons

To those wonderful concerts, let's drink,
    Under Patterson, Palumbo, and Rink:
      To the echoes one hears
      Of the first fifty years
That have gone by, it seems, in a blink.
By Puccini and Mozart we're smitten,
And by music more recently written:
      Hindemith and Gorecki,
      Krzysztof Penderecki,
    Estevez, and Benjamin Britten.
But think also of tasks now before us:
    Pinkham, Poulenc, and Gudonov, Boris.
      So let us say 'cheers'
      To the next fifty years
    Of Boston's pro Musica Chorus.

written by John T. Crawford for the
CpM 50th Season Gala (10/15/98); with apologies
to Don Kendrick, CpM Music Director 1989-90,
who was omitted purely for metrical reasons!

Also, please note that Boris Gudonov is just
one of the operas we are considering performing next
season -- but the only one that rhymes with 'Chorus'!
