Comic Book Links

Comics are cool.

X-Babes! There are tons of comic book resources available on the internet. For instance, did you realize how many comic book publishers, studios, and artists are on the web? There are:

just to name a few.

The first comic book discussion newsgroup I came across was rec.arts.comics.marvel.xbooks, which has served as my primary newsgroup since 1993. The group has been lucky enough to attract comic writers and artists like Jay Faerber, Steve Seagle, Joe Edkin, Scott Lobdell, Larry Hama, Chris Claremont, Gail Simone, Marie Javins, and Warren Ellis. These days, they (and I) are also spotted on the main comics-in-general newsgroup, rec.arts.comics.misc.

Besides keeping a few netiquette / Frequently Asked Questions lists for .xbooks, I proposed and helped to create the newsgroup for comic book reviews called rec.arts.comics.reviews. Please, post a review of any books you want to share with other readers! As always, read the FAQs before posting a review.

The most important resources for the X-Men fan are the Comic Book FAQs, including the RACMX FAQs maintained by myself. I also keep the Netiquette and Resource FAQs, with html links and mailto's galore. If you plan to participate in the Usenet newsgroups on a regular basis, read these first!

Charles S. LePage's New Comics Release List lets you know when all of the books are coming out, be they X-Men titles or the wares of dozens of other publishers and companies.

"Usenet is the equivalent of an old west saloon. Certain strong personalities tend to dominate, and every so often somebody says something that becomes the electronic equivalent of that moment when the piano player stops playing ... people look over their shoulders slowly ... one guy slowly gets up ... and there's the sound of chairs being pushed hurriedly away and the stampeding of non-combatants getting out of the way. The only difference is, imagine the two duelists facing each other...and everybody else in the bar is tossing spitballs at them from corners of the room." -- Peter David
