The Floyd have their roots in Cambridge, England, where I stayed for a semester in Fall of 1994. It is a beautiful place, as you can see from these gorgeous photographs of the second oldest college town in England.
The best TV show of 2001-2002, IMHO, was Alias, an awesome, heart-stopping spy thriller. It's got chases, near escapes, a touch of romance, and just enough humor to match the perilous action. Unfortunately, I recently got hooked on HBO's Six Feet Under, about the twisted lives of a family undertaking business.
CBS surprised me in 2001. First, I got hooked on the second version of (now SIX seasons! of) Survivor. Then, I stuck around for the awesome show CSI: Crime Scene Investigation. It's gruesome at times, but very intelligently written. But even before that, they caught my attention with The Amazing Race, a round-the-world competition between teams of two people who know each other, who try to complete odd tasks and reach far-off destinations before the other teams are able to do so. It's wonderful to experience thrills and world geography and culture all in one fell swoop. Sunday nights have traditionally been spent watching FOX, especially The Simpsons and King of the Hill. Their show Futurama was a huge favorite; too bad it got cancelled. I've been watching Boston Public on Monday nights. Great stuff all around. Another fun FOX show is That 70's Show. Cable television also has some worthwhile programs. Food TV has many great food shows, including Good Eats and the cult favorite Iron Chef. We've also become big fans of Junkyard Wars. There's just something about the creativity of these shows that makes you want to get out there and create your own invention. And if you haven't seen Trading Spaces, you're missing a very cool, very funny show. The Blues Brothers FAQ and The Ultimate Blues Brothers Web Site provide more than enough info on the best darn band ever assembled in Chicago. Search the Internet Movie Database for info on the Blues Brothers Movie, or to look for other movies shot on location in Chicago. There's nothing weirder than spam... except maybe the Spam Haiku Archive. If you like the lunchmeat(?) from beyond, you have to visit it. On second thought, the SpamCam is weirder. For more weird tidbits, visit the people who did all of the research into The T.W.I.N.K.I.E.S. Project. See for yourself what happens to twinkies after 500 feet... My friend Hosun calls himself Vorpal Bunny (tm). Just read The Vorpal Bunny (tm) FAQ. Or the Flan FAQ. What should you eat the weird food with? Sporks! And you can't have sporks without a visit to that mecca of Mexican food, Taco Bell. My one and only favorite MUD is JediMUD, a DikuMUD based on Star Wars crossed with a bunch of middle-earth fantasy and a good helping of Sesame Street just to shake things up. The best way to get started, of course, is to visit the JediMUD Home Page. It tells you almost everything you need to know about JediMUD. You can reach JediMud if you telnet to jedimud.com 4000. Join the fun!
