Meet the Hospital Manager

Peggy Keating

Hi, I am Peggy.  I joined South Putnam Animal Hospital in 1990 as a receptionist.  In 1994, after attending the Veterinary Management Development School in Colorado, I became the hospital manager. My membership in the Veterinary Hospital Managers Association and a management member of the American Animal Hospital Association provide me with access to the latest trends in veterinary management.

In 1992, I completed the Veterinary Nutritional Program given by Hills Pet Food and also attended a canine nutrition program at Cornell University.  My role as Veterinary Nutritional Consultant is to provide information to those of you whose pets are on a prescription diet to help manage an illness or disease.

Early on in my career at South Putnam Animal Hospital, I discovered that many of you have questions regarding your dog's behavior.  Recognizing a need to provide you with information, I completed a program at Cornell University in Solving Canine Behaviors in 1991, and in 1994, began my training as one of our puppy kindergarten counselors.  Our kindergarten class is based on the teachings of Dr. Ian Dunbar, who is an international veterinarian behaviorist.  Imagine my delight in being able to complete a program in 1995 given by Dr. Dunbar himself!

I am owned by two dogs.  Brandi Leigh, an English Springer Spaniel and Shannon Kate, a Basset Hound mix.  Brandi has two favorite things... eating jellybeans and cuddling up with stuffed animal toys.  Shannon also has two favorite things... eating jellybeans and ripping off the heads of all of Brandi's stuffed animals.  Both seem to believe that my sole purpose on earth is to cater to their every whim... well, who am I to burst their bubble??
