Purposeful Pathways: Exploration on the Journey
Info of Workshop:
Carl Orff utilized improvisation as his central characteristic in this teaching style, in an effort to provide musical experiences that fostered the studentsŐ learning through an immediate experience with musical concepts drawn from the individual. This workshop will explore many paths that will support creating an environment of discovery learning for students, that have a clear music purpose and celebrates exploration. Delight in new lessons that explore the expressive voice, movement, and playing appropriate for grades K-6. Each lesson for the day will focus on a new pathway to support creative exploration of musical material.


Bio:
BethAnn Hepburn, M.A. Music Education, University of St. Thomas, St. Paul, MN and Teacher Education Instructor for the American Orff-Schulwerk Association. BethAnn has taught music to grades pre-k to 6 for Streetsboro City Schools, with the distinction of Master Teacher from the State of Ohio. She is a former National Board Member for the AOSA, and currently on the board of Trustees for The American Center for Elemental Music and Movement, and she serves as the Ohio Music Education AssociationŐs Professional Development Chair for General Music. She is a frequent presenter for AOSA National Conferences, Orff chapters across the United States, and has done workshops in Jinan and Suzhou, in China. She is the music consultant for Music Is Elementary. BethAnn is co-author of Purposeful Pathways: Possibilities for the Elementary Music Classroom Books 1 & 2.
