Info of Workshop:
Explore the elemental building bricks of music and movement that are used and manipulated in the general music classroom. Discover Orff and Keetman's models, explore the extensions that can naturally come from these gems, and then create activities that you can use in your classroom everyday. Children's literature and primary sources will be used.


Bio:
Joyce Stephansky has been teaching music and movement in the Washington DC area for over 20 years. She is currently teaching in Fairfax County Public Schools, and she is also an Adjunct Associate Professor at George Mason University. Joyce teaches Elementary General Music Methods during the school year, and Orff Schulwerk Level I and supplemental classes during the summer. She has presented workshops around the country and at several National Conferences.

Joyce served on the Board of the Middle Atlantic Orff Chapter for over 10 years serving in many positions from President to Secretary. She has been singing with the Choral Arts Society of Washington for 21 seasons. Joyce lives in Alexandria, Virginia with her two children, Ben and Camille.
