"Take the Challenge" Fundraiser a Success

Emblem Clubs from around the state of Massachusetts met Sunday, May 3rd in Mansfield, MA to "TAKE the CHALLENGE for KT/DA," our friends with Kidney Disease). It was the first time that the Massachusetts State Association of Emblem Clubs (MSAEC)  held this fundraiser to raise money for the Kidney Transplant/Dialysis Association. MSAEC adopted KT/DA as their State Project in 1976 under the auspices of the then state president, Mary Keller, PSP, SPP.

As the Finalists crossed the finish line they were greeted by Mary Keller, Past Supreme President of the Supreme Emblem Club of the United States of America and Charlene Allwood , State President of the MSAEC, both of Everett Emblem Club #32.

There were 5K, 10K and 13.1 mile routes for walkers; bicyclists rode for 12 miles, and those wanting to race their minds played in Sudoku, Word Search and Crossword events. Everyone enjoyed refreshments and entertainment by "That Backwards" throughout the morning.

Kidney disease survivor, Ed Steinfield, a past president of KT/DA was present and walked the 5K with his sister Marcia.

Winners of gifts donated for this event were Mary Wood, Susan Delhanty, Gail Rosenberg and Donna Pillsbury.  Marie Ryan won a 2 night stay at the Best Western Inn at Hampton NH and Rick Hill won a 2 night stay at Rockport Inn and Suites, Rockport, MA.

We are deeply grateful to Julia Durmis, 3rd State Vice President of MSAEC for putting this event together.
