RE: Commutation Petition of Gerald Amirault

Dear Governor Swift:

We urge you to adopt the unanimous recommendation of the Advisory Board of pardons to commute the sentence of Gerald Amirault and allow him to return home to his family. Gerald has already spent 15 years in prison despite real and substantial doubt about his guilt. Gerald's late mother, Violet, and his sister, Cheryl, who were convicted based upon virtually identical allegations, were both released from prison after serving eight years behind bars. Wholly apart from the question of guilt or innocence, the gross disparity between their sentences and Gerald's is totally unjustifiable and patently unfair. Gerald's release would bring closure to this painful and controversial case. Please adopt the unanimous recommendation of your Advisory Board and set Gerald Amirault free.
