How to get along on
the planet, follow Christ,
and have a good time while you're at it.
Part Four:
Who Me? Scared?
Most people hate to admit to being scared. Maybe they think that their friends will tease
them, or call them a crybaby, or something. For guys, it's even worse, isn't it?
Especially once you get into older grades and high school, they make you feel like
admitting fear is "unmanly" or almost "unpatriotic" or something!
Actually, everyone feels fear once in a while. Fear is
normal. Someone would have to be either pretty hard-hearted or just
plain dense to never, ever feel fear. People that we've called "heroes" will
admit openly that they have felt a great deal of fear. They simply didn't let the fear
stop them from doing what was right.
Read Isaiah 41:10-16 to see what God promises us about fear. "Fear
not, I am with you". He will be with us, and strengthen us and help us.
And we know God keeps the promises He makes to us. We only need to ask Him for His help,
and He's right there.
Fear can paralyze us, and at other times it can make us crazy with panic. God knows how
fear affects our minds. That's why He has promised to help us no matter how
"silly" or how huge the fear may be.
You can count on Him, always, to give you the
strength to do what needs to be done. Tell God when you're scared. Ask Him to help you.
You can count on Him to be with you.
