This
is me, and that's all. It's not intended to be
instruction, lecture or preaching. It also is not done,
I'm not sure it ever will be! I am, as you are, a
multi-faceted person, and we all change like a
kalidascope, depending on how we turn in the light. A
mission statement of your own, not your company, or your
organization, or even your family, just for you,
is a powerful tool! It can help you put yoursef into
perspective, maybe for the first time, help you really
identify your values, strengths, need areas, and help you
develop your goals.
To find
happiness, fulfillment, and value in living I will:
LEAD a
life centered around the principles that my parents and
grandparents have taught me, relying on the teachings of
the Bible, and the ethics and morals I have learned to
value deeply:
Honor, integrity, loyalty, responsibility, doing the
right thing, even when it's hard, kindness for the sake
of kindness, and to bring a smile and a little bit of
happiness to others as I move through my day, and to live
my life in such a way, that those values are visable to
all, and live so that my actions are as a song of praise
to God, and honor the memories of those who taught these
values to me so long ago.
REMEMBER
what's important in life is:
My God, my son, and being a good provider for my son,
constantly improving my personal growth, helping others
recognize their strengths and skills, and helping them to
become all that they are capable of, and through that
growth, helping them to reach their dreams.
REVERE admirable characteristics in
others, such as those I learned from Christ and my father
and mother:
Being driven, (don't let the one's who don't understand
get you down!")
Expecting the most of the other person and of myself,
("You have the light within you, just let it shine,
never hide it away!")
Identifying a goal and keeping to it no matter
what, ("If there be a way, take this cup
from me, but Thy will be done!")
Being forgiving, (If I can be forgiven, then I can
forgive those who wrong me!)
Being strong, (I will build my house on rock, not sand!)
Understanding others, their point of view, (walk a mile
in their shoes, judge not lest you be judged!)
... and I will attempt to implement similar
characteristics in my own life.
RECOGNIZE my strengths and develop
talents as a person who is:
Adaptable and flexable, articulate, generous, a
philosopher, a poet and a storyteller, imaginative, a
teacher and a trainer, a motivator. A woman who takes
pride in the gifts God has given to me, and to
remember that the same Hands that made the stars, made
me, so I must be terrific! (even on the terrible,
horrible, no-good, very bad, messed up days!)
HUMBLE myself by acknowledging that I
can be:
Disorganized, a procrastinator, impulsive, and plain
messy, forgetful, and sometimes have the tendancy to wait
until the last minute to get things done, and realize,
that with all of my strengths, and all of my skills,
know-how, and resources, I still make mistakes, I am not
always right, and I will always need guidance from wiser
and even calmer heads, and from my Lord, and by
constantly striving, work towards transforming my
weaknesses into strengths.
ENVISION myself becoming a person who:
My son knows is loving, proactive (not reactive), honest
and moral, even if just a little bit silly.
My husband ( whoever that might be, someday)
knows is beautiful, caring, and wise and fun to be with.
My friends, neighbors and folks I work with all
know is enthusiastic, energetic, and creative,
compassionate, motivated, and generally positive.
That everyone knows is a woman who has Jesus Christ in
her heart and in her life every day!
