The Road

Sometimes the night is so dark and lonely,
and the road so long.

I drive through the rain,
not enough to pour,
just a cold drizzle,
messing up the view,

And think to myself,
how nice it would be
to have some one to talk to,
to sing with.

And every time I think it might work,
and every time I think I see
the light on the horizon,
it's not the "one"...

the light I think I see
is a set of headlights
going by on the other  side
of the divided highway.

So I pray, and scream at the sky,
and tell God

(ask God)
(demand of God)
(bargain with God)
(cry and sob at God)

to send me my special someone.

I wonder,
am I not looking hard enough?
I wonder,
is there something wrong with me?
too tall,
too big,
not pretty enough,
too weird?

And then I remember that love
doesn't care about those things,
love is a heart-thing,
not a head-thing.

Real love is a "you"-thing,
Not a "me"-thing.

So, I keep going on,
Sometimes searching,
Sometimes, just enjoying the ride,
Lookin' at the scenery going by...
