Tom Clack began his career in 1960 as a Studio Manager at the BBC in London There he spent four glorious years immersed in live radio drama and all other forms of live radio.

In 1964 Tom ran away to sea and crewed a 110 foot motor yacht in the Caribbean, culminating in a trip from Antigua to New London, Connecticut abroad a 45 foot trimaran.

Tom then worked as chief engineer at Cinema Sound for six years creating radio commercials for New York's top agencies

In 1970 he founded Clack Inc. in the original Hit Factory Studios. Here, while continuing to work for many major agencies he gained a reputation for record company radio spots and ended up servicing most of the major record labels including Columbia, Arista, and RCA.

In 1976 Clack Studios moved their two rooms to their current location on 45th Street. Here, because of Tom's record company fame he was approached by two young men involved with the start-up of a new 24 hour rock & roll cable channel Thus began Clack's long and influential relationship with first MTV and then Nickelodeon and VH1.

In 1983 Tom took a sabbatical tour by ancient Land Rover of Central and South America and Africa. The thousands of sounds collected on this journey added to the already vast Clack Sound Effects Library to make it one of the largest and most all-encompassing in the world.

Today Clack Studios boasts five studios fully involved in most aspects of radio and television advertising, promotion and programming. Tom Clack is still a full-time sound engineer specializing in comedy radio and television with dozens of clients from New York, Boston, Dallas, Chicago, and London including Cliff Freeman, BBDO, FCB, DDB, MVBMS, and of course MTV and Nickelodeon.
