When The Transportation Directory first went online there were few public transportation systems and virtually no directories of links. Since then nearly all U.S. and Canadian local public transportation systems have websites, nearly all of them being indexed and linked by the industry trade group, the American Public Transportation Association. To avoid duplication of effort The Transportation Directory no longer maintains links to public transportation systems that only provide local bus service, and users are directed to the American Public Transportation Association website. Similarly, links are no longer provided to airline websites since there are numerous airline booking sites as well as continuously-changing airline sites. The Transportation Directory will continue to provide links to its core areas: intercity ground transportation and local public transportation outside the U.S. and Canada.
