"I hope...that mankind will at length, as they call themselves reasonable creatures, have reason and sense enough to settle their differences without cutting throats; for in my opinion there never was a good war, or a bad peace." - Benjamin Franklin

a royalty free peace sign I made, so feel free to take it and put it on your own website

Here are two sonnets I wrote in March 2003:

Sonnet Against War

It would seem so simple and effective
To seek justice with the barrels of guns
Sit in an office, sign a directive
And spill the blood of daughters and sons
There may be no holy retribution
For war, and peace may not lead to rewards
Seek positive creative solutions
leave peaceful footprints as you march forward
All battlefields should turn into gardens
And swords should beg to be turned into ploughs
I will plant seeds, get the growing started
I must follow what my conscience allows
Nature brings death without my assistance
I give to war only my resistance

A chinese character representing peace. I thought it was cool, so I stuck it in here, even though this page is kind of cluttered and messy. Still, I dig it. Sonnet For Peace

What god or mystery created us
Is not for us to know and yet we live
But surely such gifts donated thus
Are not for our denial or to give
Imagine at your own birthday party
Some criminal would try to take the cake
He thinks his claim sounds thought out, pure, hearty
Legalese does not our just desserts make
Try to add to the world with each new day
Leave plus sign all over the equation
This should be the individual’s way
And also on the scale of all nations
Bank with love though all economies cease
Return the investment by making peace

I believe in peace, and I think war is always an irrational way to approach a problem. There are at least as many ways to wage peace as there are to wage war.

So far, all I've done is here, and here. It's a start! I also gave my friends peace buttons.

Here are some links to places that try to wage peace in their own way.

I will expand this page as time and creativity permit, and as I come across other great links or write more poetry.
