I am looking for the birth and parents of Mary PRESCOTT, the second wife of Coronet James SAWYER. James and Mary were married after the death of his first wife (Mary MARBLE). They may have married in Lancaster Mass Abt. 1709, but I am more likely to believe they married in Pomfret. Sawyer home in Pomfret: The James Sawyer place, long known as the Bruce Place, in Pomfret Landing. The site where James Sawyer settled in 1709 and built his dwelling, was by a great pine treet hat stands shading the cellar hole, overlooking the little waterfall in Bark Meadow Brook. He built his mill where the brook empties into the Quinebaug, where a natural bend in the river formed a mill race. Here he at once set about cutting out millstones and laying up walls and foundations. The millstones, remarkable specimens of the handwork of the time, have been removed to the Perkins Farm. This mill was set up before there was a road in Pomfret, or other inhabitants in Pomfret Landing. The river was used to go to and from the mill, before bridle paths opened that section of Pomfret and Killingly. As settlement increased, a road ran from the Sawyer house to the fording place, where fifty years later the Cotton Bridge was built.

I am looking for any/all info about UTLEY WAKEFIELD from Pomfret and his wife, circa 1800. Their daughter Sarah (born about 1814) married George R. Nelson and moved to Chautauqua County NY. Sarah (Wakefield) Nelson's death certificate lists UTLEY & MATILDA WAKEFIELD as her parents and Connecticut as her birthplace. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
