FENNER
04/05/01 FYY@AOL.COM Richard Arthur Fenner
I am researching the Fenner Family of Woodstock. My line lived there for 3 generations in the 19th century. Here is what I know: any additional information, corrections etc. is appreciated. Samuel Fenner (1796-1884) moved to Woodstock from RI and m Mary Johnson Alton (1803-1883) from Woodstock on 6/1/1823. They had a son Samuel Monroe Fenner (4/16/1824-2/24/1886). Less than 6 mos later Samuel m Emily Esther Russell (1795-1864) of Woodstock. The next year Samuel and Emily had Julia Ann (abt 1825-1916). I'd love to learn the gossip surrounding his two marriages and children in such a short period!!! Anyway, Samuel Monroe m Mary Frances Warner (1829-1917) of RI on 5/13/1849. They had three sons: Charles M. Fenner b abt 1850, Frank W. Fenner b abt 1852 and my great grandfather Edward Delevan Fenner (1855-1905). All I know of Charles and Frank is a picture taken in 1857 from which I've figured their aprroximate DOBs. Edward m Adeline Lee Allen (1862-1945) of Woodstock on 2/27/1887. By the way, Adeline was a Mayflower descendant. They had four sons including my grandfather Raymond Edward Fenner (1887-1978) b Worchester MASS. It is possible that one or more of the other sons Howard (1891-1961), Harold (1896-1991), or Stuart (1901-1971) were born in Woodstock. Do I have any "cousins" still living in Woodstock? Anyone know anything about Charles or Frank? Any Woodstock birth records on Howard, Harold or Stuart?

Request information on a Elizabeth F. West, born 29 March 1857, in Woodtsock, CT., daughter of John West from England (gardner/farmer/labor) and Mary West (Moore) from Ireland. This West family resided in Woodstock, CT from about 1856 through the 1870's before moving onto and settling in Holyoke, MA. Elizabeth is shown residing with the family in the 1870 census of Woodstock but not in the 1880 census for Holyoke, MA. CORBIN, John b. December 11, 1698 in Woodstock, son of Jabez and Mary (MORSE) Corbin. Married Martha HOSMER April 3, 1728 in Woodstock. She died July 19, 1755 and is buried in the West Thompson Cemetery. I am looking for information on when and where John Corbin died and where he is buried. CORBIN, Nancy b. April 3, 1784 granddaughter of the above John and Martha Corbin and daughter of Asa Corbin and Mercy (HARLOW) Corbin. On several census reports she indicated she was born in Connecticut and her children report mother's place of birth as "Connecticut." However, I have not been able to find a record of her birth. Would appreciate any information anyone has this. (Note: I am aware that the 1905 Corbin genealogy by Lawson says she was born in Williamstown, MA but believe this is in error.)

FRIZZELL/FRISEL/FRAZIER
23 July 2001; gdrankin@clinic.net; Virginia Mae (Frizzell) Rankin
Looking for information on James Frizzell 1627-1717. I understand a genealogy of his descendants exists in Volume 5 - The History of Woodstock Connecticut by Clarence Winthrop Bowen, Ph.D., LL.D, and that a fax reprint is available? I also understand James came to the US on the ship Christian at age 28 as James Frazier changed his name to Frisel in passage and later to Frizzell. He supposedly was a political prisoner who fought against Cromwell for Charles I. However, I have no solid proof of this (other than word of mouth) and would like to obtain any information anyone may have. James Frizzell (Frisel) (Frazier) is my paternal grandfather, needless to say, many generations removed.
