The following poem, penned by Ernie a/k/a Percy Dovetonsils (note Percy's middle name!), appeared in the December 1961 issue of Playboy. It is amazing to imagine that Ernie, at the end of 1961, continued to write-produce-and-direct his monthly specials for ABC, penned the book "How to Talk at Gin," appeared in a guest shot of what was to be the last episode of the Lucy-Desi Comedy hour, appeared in the film "Sail a Crooked Ship" for Columbia, and shot the forgettable (and unaired) sitcom pilot with Buster Keaton called "Medicine Man", all on top of his usual schedule of gin games, steam baths and not sleeping...and still wrote this delightful poem.I didn't knowabout the poem's existence myself, until a detailed eBay search turned it up a few months ago. Someone known to me only as "Al" (but not Al Quagliata, a regular contributor to this site), won a copy and was generous enough to fax the poem to me. I include it here as a holiday treat for you.
Enjoy, and happy holidays!

| 'Twas the night before Christmas and all through the
duplex
Just a valet was pressing (a glen plaid with blue checks). The nylons were hung by the chimney with care C.O.D. from I. Magnin's (the bill was still there). The boys home from prep school all snug in their beds,
When up in the penthouse there arose such a clatter
The moon on the sidewalks of chich Sutton Place
With a cute little driver so lively and quick
"Now Stupid! Now Junk-heap! Now Bucket of
Bolts!
As strollers 'fore taxis and buses do fly,
And then in a twinkling like a fast-driving heiress,
He was dressed all in cashmere from his head to his foot.
His Cavanaugh hat and bright Argyle socks
But a look at his tie (shantung and in red!)
He ate like a demon as he trimmed up the tree--
His driver was snoozing, a lovely young dame.
He saw me and hollered ere he whizzed out of sight --
