Database users will use Manifold to see, select, fetch, and manipulate their data using visual interfaces.  Many data items are related by location, like the components on a motherboard, or by networking relationships, like the pages in a web site.  The wrong way to look at such data is with lexicographic or other dull, text-style displays.  The right way to look at that data is visually, in the form of a map or diagram that shows the locational or networking relationships.  When you see your data as a map, you can instantly grab the right items, which might be impossible to find using ordinary text forms.
