Manifold System Release 5.00 - General Information

This document provides information to customers on the release schedule for Manifold System Release 5.00. Schedules and product specifications are subject to change without notice.

Manifold System Release 5.00 Professional Edition is Manifold's new GIS and mapping system. It delivers superb GIS and mapping using vector drawings, raster images and surfaces in perfect integration. Includes full scripting and development facilities as well as the best database management and analysis capabilities of any GIS. The most powerful, most modern GIS ever created at any price, Manifold 5.00 also includes the industry's finest Internet Map Server, Manifold IMS.

Manifold System Release 5.00 Enterprise Edition will be released in 2002. The Enterprise Edition provides spatial storage on enterprise databases, integrated collaborative work functionality, development for SQL Server 2000 , enhanced web server and export capability to specialty formats used within government and other large organizations. Pricing for the Enterprise Edition will be higher than for the Professional Edition.

Manifold System Release 5.00 Professional Edition: Price is $245 plus shipping.. This price provides a CD and includes all 5.00 Professional features including the Manifold Internet Map Server.

Academic and Non-Profit 4.50 Licensees: Your academic or non-profit license does not extend to a 5.00 upgrade. To extend your license to 5.00 Professional Edition, you must a) download, print, sign and return the 5.00 version of the license to manifold.net and also b) purchase a 5.00 license. The new 5.00 license is similar to previous Manifold Academic or Non-Profit licenses; however, it requires designation of technical and administrative contacts that must be updated every year to renew the license.

Manifold System Release 5.00 Enterprise Edition: Pricing has not yet been announced. For budgetary planning purposes, the price is expected to be in the range of three to five times the price of the Professional Edition (This is for budgetary outlook only - all pricing of manifold.net products is subject to change without notice). Qualified licensees of 5.00 Professional Edition who have purchased the Professional Edition before the release of the Enterprise Edition will receive a limited time offer to upgrade to the 5.00 Enterprise Edition for the difference in licensee fees between the Professional Edition and the Enterprise Edition.

Manifold System Release 4.50 will continue to be offered for sale through 31 January 2001 and possibly thereafter. However, no tech support is available for 4.50 and no upgrades from 4.50 are available to 5.00 at this time.

Manifold System Release 5.00 Professional Edition includes technical support by email for two incidents (48 hour average turnaround) for a single designated contact person. The two included support incidents are for installation and interactive features and exclude requests for technical support on development features such as scripting, programming, web serving and SQL. 48 hour response excludes weekends and holidays.

Standard Technical Support for Professional Edition interactive features may be purchased at $49 per incident or $195 per year for ten incidents. Support is by email for the current edition of the product with average turnaround of 48 hours or better. This product offering is strictly limited to technical support on specific product issues only and does not include consultation, software development and design, general or specific education in GIS or other services that are not specific to product functioning. This technical support product excludes requests for technical support on development features such as scripting, programming, web serving and SQL.

Per Incident Standard Telephone Technical Support for Professional Edition interactive features is $295 per incident payable in advance by credit card charge on a time-available basis with 24 hour call-back guarantee from 9 to 5 Pacific Time, Monday through Friday excluding Manifold holidays. This technical support product excludes requests for technical support on development features such as scripting, programming, web serving and SQL. Available only for US mainland (excluding Alaska) telephone numbers and limited to one half hour talk time.

Developer Technical Support for all Professional Edition features may be purchased at $199 per incident or $495 per year for ten incidents. Support is by email for the current edition of the product with average turnaround of 48 hours or better. This product offering is strictly limited to technical support on specific product issues only and does not include consultation, software development and design, general or specific education in GIS or other services that are not specific to product functioning.

Manifold System Release 5.00 is licensed, not sold. manifold.net is not willing to license this product to you unless you agree to the following terms and conditions.

2. Manifold System Release 5.00 is licensed by a secure serial number to an individual licensee or designated user within an organization. Your personal serial number will be provided to you by email when you purchase a license. You agree to keep your serial number confidential and to use it only to install Manifold System as provided in your license. You agree to prevent any disclosure of your serial number to any third party. If your serial number is disclosed to any third party or you otherwise violate the terms and conditions of the End User License Agreement for 5.00, you agree that your license to use Manifold System will terminate immediately without notice to you.

3. The first new license for 5.00 to any customer comes with a 30-day unconditional money-back guarantee. The 30 days runs from the date the serial number is emailed to you. The money back guarantee covers the purchase price of 5.00 ($245) and excludes all shipping fees. The money-back guarantee does not apply to any subsequent purchases of 5.00.

5. The price of a 5.00 license does not include technical support of any kind. Special promotional offers may bundle two standard tech support incidents per license. All tech support requires correct installation of Manifold System as well as installation of all prerequisites, including all service packs to your Windows system released by Microsoft and timely cooperation by the requester in response to tech support questions.

6. Academic licenses for 4.50 do not automatically upgrade to 5.00. Release 5.00 uses a new academic license that requires annual renewal by the licensee. Renewals will be free of charge but will require annual notification of current contact emails for administrative and technical contacts.

Can I upgrade at a discounted price from Manifold System Release 2.40, 3.00 or 4.00? No. The special offers to upgrade from 4.50 to 5.00 Professional Edition was made only to qualified 4.50 licensees. That special upgrade offer has now expired.

Can I upgrade at a discounted price to the Enterprise Edition? Yes and No. Upgrades are available only to the 5.00 Professional Edition. Thereafter, you may upgrade to the Enterprise Edition when it is published by paying the difference in price from the Professional Edition to the Enterprise Edition.

Do you offer an annual support plan for telephone support? At the present time, no. Telephone support is available only for standard (non-developer) features on a per-incident basis.

Do 4.50 accessories work with 5.00? No. 4.50 accessory products such as 3D View Studio, Topology Factory and Business Tools work only with 4.50. Many of the capabilities of these products have been incorporated into 5.00.

Must I remove 4.50 to install 5.00? No. You can install 5.00 without removing 4.50 and then continue to use both 5.00 and 4.50 on the same system if desired.

Does the 5.00 license provided an additional user license beyond my 4.50 license? Yes. The 5.00 upgrade provides a completely new and independent user license that is separate from your previous 4.50 license. You may, for example, continue to use 4.50 on one machine and install and use 5.00 on a second machine. However, the 4.50 license does not count towards 5.00 license usage. You could not, for example, install 5.00 on two machines at your office and count one of the installations as authorized by your previous 4.50 license.
