The Four Questions Now we ask the four questions. Traditionally, this was done by the youngest boy able to recite in Hebrew. In more modern times it was opened up to girls and often done in the vernacular. We like to do it in several different languages to remind ourselves that tonight Jews all over the world are celebrating in ways that make sense to them in their time and place. Why is this night different from all other nights? On all other nights we eat either bread or matzo, but on this night we eat only matzo. On all other nights we eat all kinds of herbs. but on this night we eat only bitter herbs. On all other nights we do not dip even once, but on this night we dip twice. On all other nights we eat either sitting or reclining, but on this night we eat reclining.
