Please note that due to late minute action by the
general assembly the delegate selection meeting has been changed to Tuesday,
March 23, 2004. February will be a regular meeting. (apologies to non email
recipients who received a mailing just subsequent to the new information. Please
disregard the previous.)
Please also note the following/enclosed that covers important information regarding delegate selection, convention dates, new Town Committee, etc.

Delegate/Caucus/New Town Committee Info
Dear Town Committee Members (Current & New) and Friends
Please take notice of the following IMPORTANT ITEMS:
1. The caucus for selection of delegates to
conventions: has been changed from February to March in accordance with a vote
of the general assembly. The caucus will be held at 7:30p.m. (following a regular 7:00 p.m. Town Committee meeting) on Tuesday, March 23, 2004 in the Community Room of the Middletown Police Department, 222Main Street.
2. To become a delegate:
In accordance with our by-laws a letter/note requesting to be a delegate must be submitted to the Town Committee Chair 14 days prior to the caucus or by March 10th. Either note your willingness to serve as a delegate to any convention for which you are eligible or specify your choice. Mail to P.O. Box 1121, Middletown, CT 06457 or email to

The following are the convention dates and the number of delegates needed.
May 8th – U. S. Congressional
District 1 Convention (3 Delegates)
U. S. Congressional District 3 Convention (9 Delegates)
May 15th - State Convention – (For U. S. Senate Candidate) (12 Delegates)
May 19th - State Senate District 9 Convention (7 Delegates)
State Senate District 13 Convention (5 Delegates)
May 18th - State Assembly 33rd – Single Town District
Town Committee Meeting to select candidates for:
Registrar of Voters
Justices of the Peace.
Candidate letters for all positions must be submitted to the Chairman by May 4th .
May 20th - State Assembly District 32 Convention (1 Delegate)
State Assembly District 34 Convention (3 Delegates)
State Assembly District 100 Convention (4 Delegates)
Any registered Middletown Republican may become a delegate. You may be a delegate to more than one convention (for example your state assembly, state senate and congressional districts for which you are eligible) and all registered Republicans are eligible to vote at a caucus.
3. Congratulations! To all those who petitioned for town committee membership –
we secured more than sufficient signatures and all have been officially elected
to serve on the 2004-2006 town committee. Official membership begins after the
march primary and the organizational meeting and election of officers will be at
the march 23rd meeting.
