Note that even if we could miraculously stop illegal immigrants tomorrow we still have almost one million legal immigrants a year. If we cut immigration back to the long term average of about 300,000 a year we would be at the levels of the Sixties. At this level America would still be the most generous recipient of immigrants of any country in he world.
